Practically speaking, that means implementing Korsnäs’ environmental policy in various ways that make our forest use and wood supply more environmentally sound. Our operations are guided by laws, including the Silvicultural Act, which regulates the long-term care of the forests. We establish environmental goals and procedures with the support of ISO 14001.
Our FSC and PEFC certifications details the way in which our forestry must be adapted to nature and the environment: how many trees must be saved when cutting, how much deadwood should be left, etc. Obviously, it’s essential for all our employees and contractors to have the expertise and the commitment required to make the policy a reality. Our wood suppliers, too, are part of our environmental management system – pursuant to our FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certifications, all wood must be traceable and come from uncontroversial sources.
