Press release: Sale of paper machine in Gävle In order to satisfy one of the conditions set by the EU Commission for approval of the combination between Billerud and Korsnäs, an agreement has been signed with SwedPaper AB ("SwedPaper") concerning divestment of a paper machine (PM2) at the Gävle production unit. Production at PM2 in 2012 accounted for approximately 2% of BillerudKorsnäs’ total combined sales volume.

Kinnevik: Korsnäs to merge with Billerud – Kinnevik will be the largest owner in the combined company Investment AB Kinnevik (”Kinnevik”) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Billerud AB regarding a merger between Korsnäs and Billerud (“the Transaction”). Kinnevik will receive SEK 2.7 bn in cash consideration and will be the largest owner in the new company with an ownership stake of 25%, all net after the planned rights issue in Billerud amounting to SEK 2 bn. The shares in the new company have been assigned a value of SEK 2.6 bn in the Transaction. Billerud will take over debt in the amount of SEK 5.7 bn relating to Korsnäs and Latgran. Korsnäs is thus valued at approximately SEK 11 bn.

Kinnevik: Korsnäs fourth quarter results 2010 Investment AB Kinnevik (publ) ("Kinnevik") today announces that, as a result of production disturbances in the fourth quarter, the production and operating profit in Korsnäs is lower than anticipated. Production was approximately 240 Ktonnes and the operating profit is expected to amount to approximately SEK 115-120 million in the fourth quarter 2010 (SEK 242 million). Operating profit for 2010 is still expected to increase to approximately SEK 925-930 million (SEK 851 million).

Major Environmental Investment Inaugurated Korsnäs Gävle has built a new evaporation plant. Korsnäs Gävle has invested a total of SEK 570 M to enhance energy efficiency and cut emissions. The investments mean that oil consumption will decrease by nearly 50 percent and that carbon dioxide emissions will therefore fall by the same amount.

Investment in new sheeting machine at Korsnäs Frövi Sales volumes for sheet products in the Cartonboard business area have increased steadily in recent years. At Korsnäs Frövi, we have two machines with a total annual sheeting capacity of 60,000 tonnes, but this is not enough to meet future market needs. For this reason, we have decided to increase capacity in sheeted materials by acquiring a further sheeting machine at Korsnäs Frövi. The investment, totalling SEK 30 million, includes measures affecting existing equipment and premises as well as new machinery.
