The combination of Billerud and Korsnäs was completed today. The new company BillerudKorsnäs will be a leading player in primary fibre-based packaging material and solutions. In connection with the combination, the Board of Directors of BillerudKorsnäs has decided upon new financial targets.

The relevant competition authorities have now approved the combination between Korsnäs and Billerud. All relevant conditions have been met and the transaction is planned to close on 29 November 2012.

Malongo Coffee supplies the world’s coffee lovers with fair trade coffee and eco-coffee. Korsnäs supplies the packaging industry with climate-smart, paper-based packaging material. Together they are now launching environmentally responsible coffee pods for Malongo.

A major continuous upgrading of Korsnäs White has yielded two results so far. The whiteness is increased on both sides of the board and basis weight has been reduced.

Dags igen för PIDA – Packaging Impact Design Award – den prestigefyllda tävlingen i förpackningsdesign som årligen arrangeras av Korsnäs. Den 10 oktober samlas branschen på Fotografiska Museet i Stockholm för seminarium och prisutdelning.

Investment AB Kinnevik (”Kinnevik”) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Billerud AB regarding a merger between Korsnäs and Billerud (“the Transaction”). Kinnevik will receive SEK 2.7 bn in cash consideration and will be the largest owner in the new company with an ownership stake of 25%, all net after the planned rights issue in Billerud amounting to SEK 2 bn. The shares in the new company have been assigned a value of SEK 2.6 bn in the Transaction. Billerud will take over debt in the amount of SEK 5.7 bn relating to Korsnäs and Latgran. Korsnäs is thus valued at approximately SEK 11 bn.
