PIDA - PACKAGING IMPACT DESIGN AWARD

Since 1994, Korsnäs has organized design competitions with a focus on packaging design for students from Spain, Sweden and the UK. In 2004, collaboration with Spain (Escola Massana) passed over to Pro Carton. The Swedish competition was intensified in 2005 instead, and more schools were involved in connection with the 2005 Year of Design; the PIDA concept was born. Collaboration with Marks & Spencer as the sponsor of a category within the Institute of Packaging’s competition called Student Starpack Award was initiated the same year.

In 2006 PIDA Germany was added to our roster of events following our cooperation with the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart, and in 2007 we are bolstering the competition with PIDA France, where our partner is the IUT University in Reims. We have as a result reached our goal of tying in tomorrow’s designers to us on our biggest markets.

The competition’s concept of young designers of the future with fresh ideas has become a great success, and we can ascertain that this is a competition where everyone is a winner.

Students are given the opportunity to display their creativity to a large audience, including the opportunity to distinguish themselves for future employers. At the same time, they acquaint themselves with opportunities for creative design with our material.

Our customers and their customers are able to take advantage of the students’ fresh ideas. New contacts and ideas are born.

Korsnäs is present to serve as the coordinator of the contact network between designers, students, the trade press, converters and producers being built up. Consumption patterns, creativity and attractive packaging form the cornerstones.
